Wimbledon legend Henman adds a slice of glamour to MIPIM Tennis Classic 2019

The MIPIM Tennis Classic, in association with Towergate Insurance, will return next March bigger and better than ever before with Wimbledon legend Tim Henman serving up an added slice of glitz and glamour as a special VIP guest.

The former British No.1, who famously reached the semi-finals at the All England Club on four separate occasions, will be supporting the event in Cannes for the first time. Henman will be on hand throughout the charity doubles tournament, with the event organisers determined to smash 2018’s record fundraising total of over £35,000.

Henman is thrilled to be onboard and aims to help make the 2019 tournament a huge success.

“I’m delighted to be supporting the 2019 MIPIM Tennis Classic,” he said. “It’s an event that’s been growing fast over the past few years, raising lots of money in the process. I’m hoping we can continue to build on that success this time around.

“These types of event are a great way of getting together to enjoy a few hours of tennis, while trying to help change the lives of those less fortunate.

“There are some fun, new additions planned for the day, including the chance to win a one-to-one coaching session with me. I’m really looking forward to getting down to Cannes and raising as much money as possible for our chosen charities. It should be a fantastic day.”

And Henman won’t be the only new addition next year – television presenter Dan Lobb, the former host of Daybreak and GMTV, will be compere on the day.

Lobb is pretty handy with a racket himself, having a three-year spell as a professional, reaching the ranking of British No.18, before retiring in 1998.

Now in it’s fifth year, the MIPIM Tennis Classic is a much-loved fixture during the week of the world-leading property exhibition as some of real estates’ biggest names show off their on-court skills, while fund-raising for fantastic charities.

This year the money will be split between four great causes – the Tim Henman Foundation, Bright Ideas for Tennis, LandAid and the Cannes Community Fund.

There will also be a new format for the tournament, with doubles teams competing in 20-minute group games before the most successful progress to compete for the #MakeARacket trophy.

On top of that, all competitors will be able to enjoy an added professional touch, with tennis giants Head providing the balls and rackets for every player.

With so many improvements to an already fantastic competition, it really does promise to be an unmissable event for anyone attending MIPIM.
