Lucy Arthur and Simon Osborne were the proud winners of the LandAid Mipim Tennis Classic 2018 – beating another mixed double pair Jonathon Hogg and Randa Khayyat in a thrilling final.
Twenty-eight competitors took to the courts of the Cannes Tennis Club to do battle for the #MakeARacket Shield, with the losing teams in round one then moving into a Plate Competition.
Having safely negotiated the first two rounds, Arthur and Osborne saw off Andy Jansons and Paul Sherry in the semi-final.
Hogg and Khayyat, meanwhile, booked their place in the showpiece match by beating Colin Preston and Anthony Epenetos in their semi.
The final was a rollercoaster affair with both teams looking like they might get the upper hand at various points of the match. However, it was the AshbyCapital pairing of Arthur and Osborne who eventually came out on top 6-5 to lift the Shield.
In the Plate Final, the Ideal Land Ltd team of Stephen Hutt and James Armstrong, who had lost to the overall winners Arthur and Osborne in round one, were victorious after seeing off Neil Shiner and Jon Eaglesham.
